Kahani is a wallpaper design from the Bharat ki Lori collection, also known as the "Indian lullaby," a capsule collection inspired by the colors, traditions, and imagery of India.
Kahani is a wallpaper born from the desire to pay homage to a textile tradition from northern India: Chamba Rumal.
Originating from the small kingdom of Chamba, in what is now the state of Himachal Pradesh, Chamba Rumal was a narrative piece that told stories through thread. It was traditionally embroidered with silk thread on muslin or fine cotton, using double stitches that ensured the design was identical on both sides. The themes were almost always mythological scenes, enchanted gardens, smiling deities, everyday stories, animals, and nature.
Based on these narratives, I have created this embroidered keepsake, which celebrates life in harmony with nature—a tribute to life, decoration, and craftsmanship.
